Wearing makeup can be fun. I know that I enjoy “glam it up” for a night out. However, there are benefits to wearing little to no makeup (believe it or not). If you can use a break from your ordinary makeup routine, read on!
1. You’ll Hopefully Have Clearer Skin
Between foundation and concealer and blush and contouring, there is a lot of product on your face. All this makeup can be difficult to remove at the end of the day. If we don’t remove it all, it’s left in our pores. Giving our skin a break from it all might mean clearer skin in just a couple of days.
2. You’ll Probably Have Less Stress
Let’s face it. Maintaining a beauty routine can be a hassle. Is your foundation even? Are your lashes clumpy? Has your liner smudged? Not wearing makeup will alleviate these anxieties and free up more of your mind for important tasks like having time to stretch and meditate or checking out the newest episode of the Real Housewives of NYC.
3. You Might Look Younger
If you tend to be heavy handed with your makeup, you might find that wearing less or none makes you look younger. Those freckles and rosy cheeks that you’re always tried to cover up actually make you look more naturally youthful.
4. Your Skincare Improves (Hopefully)
If you’re going to wear no makeup, you want your skin to look as good as possible. You don’t want breakouts or blotchy skin. So use all your serums and masks and that all-important SPF and your skin will thank you now and later.
5. You Find Out That You Don’t Need Makeup (or Just Less)
Once that you’ve went without makeup for a while, once you start applying it again may feel strange and quite heavy. Instead, you might want to skip the foundation and just apply concealer. Or, perhaps, instead of doing a full-on smoky eye, you can just apply a coat or two of mascara. Regardless of how you choose to apply your makeup, you will have gained a new perspective.
The benefits to wearing little or no makeup make trying the “no makeup look” enticing, even if only for a couple of days. Relieving the stress of worrying about your makeup combined with gaining a better skincare regimen and, thus, better skin makes this experiment one that you should seriously consider. You could learn how to apply makeup differently based on seeing how your face looks with little to know makeup. This will offer a fresh perspective on your makeup application. Above all, this is a learning experience. You’ll be all the better for it!
