Excellence How to Lead a Life of Excellence

I had a professor in college who constantly emphasized the importance of excellence.  He said that doing your best in all that you do was the most important thing that you could give to your life.  In return, you reap self-respect and a whole host of other admirable qualities.  I have found five quotes that I believe point to excellence.

Good people strengthen themselves endlessly. – Confucius

The hardest challenge is to be yourself in a world where everyone is trying to make you be somebody else. – E. E. Cummings

You cannot be lonely if you like the person you’re alone with. – Wayne Dyer

Insist on yourself. Never imitate.  – Ralph Waldo Emerson

None of us will ever accomplish anything excellent or commanding except when he listens to this whisper which is heard by him alone. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

In the first quote, I believe Confucius was talking about excellence.  Strengthening ourselves endlessly will lead to excellence.

E.E. Cummings was correct when he observed that the world is constantly trying to change us, to make us into somebody us.  If we stay ourselves despite this challenge, we have achieved excellence.

The third quote is a great one because being comfortable being alone is essential to growth and becoming excellent.

Fourth, being true to yourself is achieving excellence wholeheartedly.

Lastly, listening to yourself and how you feel will gain you more excellence than any other avenue.

Be excellent!

Creativity How the Creative Process Works and What Hinders It

Creativity is the cornerstone of the blogging business.  To express oneself creatively is a privilege.  The fact that we have others read or view our creative output is gratifying.  Creativity is fun!  I love to sit down at my computer or get clippings for my vision board and create my own personal view of the world.  I’m glad that you’re here to share it with me!

Creativity is intelligence having fun.” – Albert Einstein

“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” – Sylvia Plath

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” – Maya Angelou

The first quote by Albert Einstein is what it’s all about.  Creativity is intelligence having fun and whole lot of fun it can have!  Just think of the possibilities.  I mentioned two things in the paragraph above: blogging and vision boards, but there are so many others.  You can paint, sculpt, write, sing, or act.  The list is endless for self-expression.

The second quote is the antidote to creativity: self-doubt.  Self-doubt inhibits freedom which in turn inhibits creativity.  With self-doubt, the creative process stops.  You are no longer free to express the beautiful person that you are.  This quote is by American poet Sylvia Plath who wrote prolifically during her short life.  If you know her story, you will know why she was perhaps an authority on self-doubt.

A more upbeat quote is by Maya Angelou who says that we cannot use up our creativity because the more we use, the more we have.  How splendid!  I love this declaration because when I’m searching for inspiration, I find that when I get inspired, it keeps going and going.  If I stay static, so does my creativity.  Ms. Angelou was an extraordinary poet and writer so she certainly knew about the creative process!

Get creative!
